True Rescue

What is True Rescue?

In sixteen years, we’ve learned a lot about the meaning of rescue. To us, true rescue is when you set the animal up for success for the rest of its life; not just when things are desperate but to keep them from ever being that desperate again. A dozen years, hundreds of animals, and millions of pounds of manure later, we’ve decided that there are 3 key elements to True Rescue.

  1. Start with a healthy animal. It is impossible to completely evaluate an impoverished animal. Animals that come through Storm Creek are completely rehabilitated before being placed up for adoption. Being healthy is the first step in the journey that will last them the rest of their life.

  2. Evaluation and Training. We feel very strongly that animals cannot find the right home without fully evaluating that creature’s temperament, abilities, personality, etc. Generally, you discover a great deal about an animal when attempting to teach it something! We have a training checklist that must be achieved before animals are placed up for adoption and they each differ by which animal it is.

  3. Paperwork (the worst part of rescue!). All animals that are fostered or adopted from Storm Creek must have a file of paperwork on them. This paperwork keeps them safe. Adoption and foster applications as well as a LIFETIME contract ensure that we do the very best we can to achieve our goal of lifetime security for every animal that is entrusted to our care.

Most often, it’s not cheap or easy to do things the right way but it is always worth it. When you support Storm Creek, you support not only the animals so deserving of help but also family, community, integrity, passion, and pride in a job well done because those things are the foundation of True Rescue.

With your help, we can save them, for the rest of their life.
